Sailing

Grafham Water Centre is 100 metres from the shoreline of possibly the best inland sailing venue in the Country. The Centre has a large fleet of dinghies to choose from and a team of friendly, qualified and experienced RYA Instructors to guide you. We provide a sailing experience second to none.

Sailing at Grafham

Whether you are sailing for the first time in a Pico, race training, enjoying the excitement of sailing in a multihull, handling an asymmetric spinnaker in a Laser 2000 or learning the finer points of seamanship, the emphasis will be on a hands-on, practical experience in a safe learning environment.  You can choose from a wide range of courses to find exactly what you want.  Courses for beginners are available throughout the season and we have a wide selection of specialist courses for those with previous experience.

Thanks to the wide skill base of our instructional team and the range of equipment available, we can offer coaching at any level you need and can also provide any of the RYA courses in catamarans instead of dinghies, as well as introductory coaching in asymmetric dinghies on request. Please do not hesitate to contact the Centre to help you select the correct course.

+Keelboat Taster

A more gentle way to introduce yourself to the sport of Sailing. A larger, more stable boat with a fixed keel which stops the boat from capsizing. Keel boats are a step up in size from dinghies, more like a small manageable yacht. They can bridge the gap between dinghies and yachts, offering many benefits of both, to the adult beginner. A great opportunity for staying warm and dry in the winter months and learning the fundamental kills of sailing without the risk of swimming! Perfect for those less agile or wanting to sail abroad on holiday.
