Grafham Water Centre organises a number of instructor training programmes to encourage the development of appropriate skills and approaches in a variety of disciplines.

These courses are taught following the syllabus of the relevant National Governing Body and can be taken as part of our Fast Track Programme or individually.

This course will give a working knowledge of First Aid to sailors and skippers. It satisfies the requirements of the RYA for Instructor Level First Aid Certificates.

+British Canoeing Foundation Safety and Rescue Training

British Canoeing Foundation Safety & Rescue Training assessment provides safety awareness and rescue skills to enhance water competence. This is a prerequisite for taking British Canoeing Coach Awards at Level 1 and 2. You must have achieved the standard of BCU 2 Star competence to attend this course. You must also be able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing condition and be a minimum of 14 years of age. A first aid certificate is not a pre requisite, however the holding of a first aid certificate is strongly recommended for all paddlers. Please call the Centre for further information.

+MT.UK Climbing Wall Leading Award (CWLA)

£95 (Full Day)

This day long course is for experienced SPA or CWA qulified climbing instructors who wish to teach lead climbing on artificial climbing walls. Candidates must be able to lead climb F6a on sight and take good falls on the lead. This course looks at risk assessment, coaching, teaching strategies and duty of care as well as falling and dynamic belaying.
