+Chef Manager

TERM: Permanent 37 Hours

About the role
The post holder will be expected to spend some shifts chefing, with the rest of the time focussed on managing the department’s staff, resources and budgets. The Chef Manager will ensure the highest standards of food quality, health and safety, and customer service. They will manage and motivate the team, providing support and training where necessary to ensure a high quality operation.

Hours, pay and benefits
• 37 hours per week.
• Some early, evening and weekend work on a shift rota basis. A typical chef shift is 06.30-14.30 or 11.30 – 19.30, office shift times can be agreed.
• Salary £23,398 - £24,964 (hourly rate £12.13 - £12.94).
• 23 days paid annual leave per annum, increasing with service.

TERM: Fixed Term - Mid February to the end of October 2018

Grafham Water Centre is a well-known Local Authority Outdoor Learning Centre in Cambridgeshire. The Centre is ideally located on the shores of one of the UK’s largest reservoirs and is one of the best inland sailing venues in the UK.  It is complimented by an extensive range of water and land based activities.

In addition to your employment package, you also benefit from free use of our facilities when not in use, boat storage free of charge and use of the water when you are not working – what more could you want!

Contracts for 2018 will be from February 2018 until October 2018,  with salaries for instructors starting at £15,246 - £16,781 per annum (pro rata) with opportunities for overtime. You will work an average of a 37 hour week and this will include some weekends.

We have accommodation and meals available throughout the season on request and at an additional cost. Each successful applicant will receive paid annual leave to take during the contract period and a fantastic training package to support development. Uniform is also provided.

Qualifications:
You will have at least one of the following RYA Dinghy Sailing Instructor, RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor, BC/UKCC Level 1 Canoe/Kayak Coach, Single Pitch Award or Climbing Wall Award and hold a valid First Aid qualification.

APIOL and RPIOL accreditation and other NGB awards will be viewed favourably.

+Trainee Activity Instructor

TERM: 12 Month Contract starting February 2018

Grafham Water Centre is a well-known Local Authority Outdoor Learning Centre in Cambridgeshire. The Centre is ideally located on the shores of one the UK’s largest reservoirs and is one of the best inland sailing venues in the UK. It is complimented by an extensive range of water and land based activities.

We are a lively and busy centre catering for a wide range of schools and youth groups as well as offering courses for both adults and children from taster sessions to NGB certificated courses.

This role is a 12 month contract starting in February 2018, you will work 5 Days a week including some weekends, with a variety of groups and alongside experienced instructors. You will also have opportunities to train and take NGB courses to develop your outdoor qualifications in order to become a qualified outdoor instructor.  Accommodation and meals are provided throughout your contract. Salary offered is £99 per week plus a generous training package and in house development (food and accommodation is provided as part of the package).  Each successful applicant will receive paid annual leave to take during the contract period. Uniform is also provided.

Qualifications

You will have personal experience of Outdoor Pursuits and will be working towards a minimum of one of the following qualifications:

BCU/UKCC 2* in Kayak/Canoe, RYA Start Windsurfing, RYA Basic Skills Level 2 Sailing, RYA Powerboat Level 2, GNAS Archery Leader, BSCA Mountain Bike Leader, CWA Training or equivalent qualifications.

Desirable:

Instructor qualification in one of the following areas: Kayak/Canoe, Climbing, Sailing, Windsurfing, Archery, Powerboat.

APIOL and RPIOL accreditation and other NGB awards will be viewed favourably.
