This is a new position focused on developing the successful management of the Catering department at Grafham Water Centre, so it is a great opportunity for someone to make the position their own and have a real impact!
Qualifications and experience
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual who is committed to leading a team to deliver the best service to our customers and staff – a smile and a sense of humour is a must! We will be looking for the following in our ideal candidate:
• Level 3/Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Training can be given)
• Level 2 Catering/Cooking qualification e.g. NVQ 2 or City and Guilds 706/2
• Management/supervisory experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Sound knowledge of health, safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to motivate a team and individuals

Grafham Water Centre is a popular Outdoor Learning Centre based on the shores of Grafham Water reservoir in Perry, Cambridgeshire. We are a lively and busy residential centre catering for a wide range of school and youth groups as well as offering courses for both adults and children. We also cater for corporate and conference bookings. At the heart of all our work is our vision to change young people’s lives.
About the role
The post holder will be expected to spend some shifts chefing, with the rest of the time focussed on managing the department’s staff, resources and budgets. The Chef Manager will ensure the highest standards of food quality, health and safety, and customer service. They will manage and motivate the team, providing support and training where necessary to ensure a high quality operation.
Hours, pay and benefits
• 37 hours per week.
• Some early, evening and weekend work on a shift rota basis. A typical chef shift is 06.30-14.30 or 11.30 – 19.30, office shift times can be agreed.
• Salary £23,398 - £24,964 (hourly rate £12.13 - £12.94).
• 23 days paid annual leave per annum, increasing with service.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated instructors to join our team for the 2018 season. Grafham Water Centre is a well-known Local Authority Outdoor Learning Centre in Cambridgeshire. The Centre is ideally located on the shores of one of the UK’s largest reservoirs and is one of the best inland sailing venues in the UK. Contracts for 2018 will vary in length but this will be from February to October with salaries for instructors starting from £15,246 - £16,781 per annum (pro rata). You will work an average of a 37 hour week and this will include some weekends. We have accommodation and meals available throughout the season on request and at an additional cost. Each successful applicant will receive paid annual leave to take during the contract period and a fantastic training package to support development. Uniform is also provided.
You will have at least one of the following:
RYA Dinghy Sailing Instructor, RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor, BC/UKCC Level 1 Canoe/Kayak Coach, Single Pitch Award or Climbing Wall Award and hold a valid First Aid qualification.
APIOL and RPIOL accreditation and other NGB awards will be viewed favourably. Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check and medical clearance before employment commences.
