RYLA Delegate Information

In a world that is forever changing and offering new and demanding challenges, it is crucial that we in Rotary recognise and encourage young adults to develop their skills so they can achieve their potential in work and the world in which they live.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is designed to improve participants’ confidence and understanding of themselves. The course programme includes –

> fundamentals of positive leadership
> importance of communication skills
> problem-solving and conflict management
> building self-confidence and self-esteem
> the value of teamwork in business and the community
> what Rotary is and what it does for the local community

The programme runs from 4pm on the Saturday you arrive until 2pm the following Saturday.

The RYLA programme is a mixture of carefully designed learning experiences, a business simulation, challenging exercises using the outdoors and feedback sessions delivered by professional trainers who have experience of working with young people in a challenging environment through education. The students can be sponsored by either individual Rotary clubs or a group of clubs. Also, local organisations and companies can support RYLA by sponsoring a member of their staff whom they wish to develop. The sponsors simply pay for the fee and any expenses incurred. It is important that the local rotary club has a key involvement in the selection of participants to uphold the standard of the programme.
